Official Statement Of Sureste Star Trek Club in face of the Officiality of the Espatrek 30/08/2010
This statement is issued after the little stir created by the publishing in the media of the news of Espatrek™2010 turning into the 1st Official Star Trek Congress in Spain and it tries to clarify the questions that many of the Star Trek fans have addressed us in different ways.
Before getting to the point, we would like to let 2 things clear:
- Sureste Star Trek Club (from now on CSTS) is not spokesperson in Spain of CBS Consumer Products, so we do not know which are the causes that explain its actions and consequently only CBS Consumer Products can answer many of the questions posed in the last days;
- That the actions of the CSTS have always been guided to improve, consolidate and turn the Espatrek into a reference inside the whole of the Star Trek Conventions.
Although these questions are ‘logical’, we wanted to let them over the table so to have them into consideration.
CBS Consumer Products got in contact with the CSTS – and we would like to emphasize this fact – with the intention of regularizing the current situation of the use of a registered trademark as Star Trek from the part of the Espatrek™ convention, as it was shown to the Extraordinary General Meeting of the CSTS, placed for this purpose. After several meetings an agreement came up, which was also ratified by the Meeting, where the conditions for the celebration of this congress in an official way was established.
It has not been easy or cheap to hold all these negotiations with CBS Consumer Products, which has included an exhaustive review of all the elements of the congress – poster, activity programme, list of collaborators or sponsors, accounts’ status…. - and it is the one who established some of the rules to follow in order to continue with the Espatrek™. One of those conditions was the confidentiality in face of the negotiations, something that has been strictly observed until the moment when we have been authorised for issuing the news with regard to CBS Consumer Products and a hour later it was published in the usual media, MST among them. Other condition would be the exclusive nature of the congress, to name 2 examples.
We can confirm that CBS Consumer Products knows of the existence of more clubs and conventions in Spain but for the time being they have contacted CSTS because they are the organizers of the Espatrek™ - event that CBS Consumer Products has considered should get official status immediately.
CSTS does not know of the plans that CBS Consumer Products may have in relation to other Star Trek clubs, including CSTS and other conventions hold in Spain.
They have been 3 heart-stopping months for some of the members of the CSTS who have been arranging the subject. Days of tension, bad mood, literally ‘of being screwed’ because an institution such as CBS Consumer Products is one of the biggest and most important companies worldwide in subjects related to media and the current promoter of all the rights of Star Trek. And the CSTS is a youth association. Any other comparison remains out of place.
We would like to use these lines to thank all the ones who have collaborated in the organization of the Espatrek™ because with their work they have enlarged what just few fans began almost 13 years ago and what today is the first official Star Trek convention in our country. It would not have this category without the many attendees who faithfully support us with their presence year after year. We consider that this a sample of recognition and effort that we owe you all. Sincerely thank you ALL for this achievement.

Sureste Star Trek Club and CBS Consumer Products have reached an agreement to turn the XIIIth National Edition of the Star Trek convention Espatrek™ 2010 into the First Official Star Trek Convention with exclusive nature. The Espatrek will be held from Oct. 22nd to 24th in the Silken Puerta Valencia Hotel.

We have adapted the registering website and opened a waiting list for residents in order to help those who have waited until last moment and have not been able to book a room.
We announce you that it is possible that we may get new vacancies in the venue hotel or in a hotel nearby. If this second option occurs, it would be only for room and breakfast as the rest of the day – lunch and dinner – could take place in the venue hotel.

REGISTERING PERIOD CLOSED FOR THE PRIVATE DINNER WITH MARINA SIRTIS 12/08/2010
There are no more seats available for the private dinner with our guest. If you arrive late to take part in it, you could put your name down in a waiting list for a possible private lunch on Saturday, as happened last year.
Organization – even completing the seats – cannot guarantee the celebration as that decision depends on the hotel and above all on Marina Sirtis.

Espatrek with no resident vacancy 07/08/2010
Espatrek has run out of resident vacancies whether double or single room. Organization has already started to arrange a waiting list that will be available in this website at the beginning of the week.
We have also started arranging an extension of room bookings in the Silken Puerta Valencia Hotel, although - given the full occupation of the hotel because of the Espatrek and other congress - this may not be possible. In any case, we will look for alternatives in order to increase the number of vacancies.
We remind you that the registrations for visitors are still opened and that registrations by web will have a discount over the ticket.

Espatrek 2010: Last resident vacancies 05/08/2010
There are only 7 vacancies left for the Espatrek™. So if you still have not register yourself as resident, do not be long. This year we cannot offer any expansion because of the full occupation of the hotel.

Star Trek Exhibition 23/07/2010
On last July 22nd in the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum of the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia it was open the monographic exhibition ‘Star Trek: Welcome on board”. The event was presided by Pedro García Ribot, General Manager of the City of Arts and Sciences and in the presentation took part Alfonso García Figueroa - author of ‘Star Trek and the Human Rights’ - who will give a lecture in the Espatrek 2010.
The exhibition shows all kind of items about Star Trek, including a recreation of the command bridge of the Enterprise 1701D, as shown in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and also several original uniforms used in the movies and TV shows of Gene Roddenberry’s saga, models of more than 3 metres long of the Enterprise and the Voyager, audiovisuals, a huge mural representing a temporal line with the most important stages of Star Trek’s chronology, posters, original scripts, little models, weaponry, props, etc. It is a must visit for any Star Trek fan visiting the city of Valencia
Espatrek in the Podcasts 20/07/2010
Espatrek runs all over Internet. And it runs in podcast format, what we could call ‘radio by internet’, so to speak. To begin with, the last broadcasting of ‘Out of Orbit’ (‘Fuera de Órbita’), a programme produced by the Star Trek Club of Valencia – co-organisers of the Espatrek – and which is fully dedicated to Espatrek, explaining all the details of the convention and the scheduled activities for this year, including the presence of Marina Sirtis – Deanna Troi in ‘The Next Generation’.
But what’s more, 2 other podcasts include interviews to members of the Espatrek’s organization staff in their last broadcastings. They are: ‘OhhhTV Podcast!,’ a Podcast dedicated to Audiovisual Culture and specialized in movies and TV shows; and ‘Chronicles from Sepelaci’ (‘Crónicas desde Sepelaci), the podcast ‘made in the wave’ about the fantastic in general. You can’t miss them!

New presentation in the FNAC of Zaragoza 23/06/2010
On next 26th June at 18h00 a new presentation of the Espatrek 2010’s convention will take place in the FNAC Plaza España of Zaragoza, for all those who live near and may be interested and for those who still do not know how this kind of events works and may feel curious.
We will welcome you with open arms and we will solve all the doubts you may have.
Exhibition of Star Trek in Valencia 16/06/2010
As published in the website www.cac.es, the acclaimed ‘Star Trek: The Exhibition’ will take place in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia between July 22nd 2010 and 22nd February 2011. As announced on last Monday by Mr. Pedro García Ribot, the director of the museum, this exhibition will display different sets, wardrobe and original toolings of the different shows and movies of the Star Trek franchise.
It is wonderful news and besides it will occur simultaneously for some days with our convention Espatrek, becoming in these days an additional point of interest for all the trekkies in the city of Valencia. We will keep you posted.
Presentation in the FNAC of Alicante 16/06/2010
On next Saturday 19th June at 19h00 in the book, music and electronic shop of FNAC Bulevar of Alicante a new presentation of the Espatrek 2010’s convention will take place.
In this occasion the hosts of the conference will be Alejandro Ojados and Sonia Jimeno. We expect you there and we hope to solve all the doubts you may have about who we are and what is our convention about.
Contests Espatrek 2010 09/06/2010
You can already enter the different contests we have in Espatrek 2010. The different categories you can put down for are: Model-making, Artistic Expression, Fancy Dress, Written Expression and Photography. The rules for each contest are to be consulted in our website. We wish luck for all those who take part in any of them.
Official presentations of the Espatrek in Barcelona and Madrid 25/05/2010
On next Saturday 29th May a second series of official presentations of the Espatrek 2010 will take place. This time they will be in FNAC Diagonal Mar of Barcelona and FNAC Parquesur in Madrid, at 19h00 in both cases.
There we will show the different activities we carry out in the convention and we will answer all the doubts you may have. See you there!

Marina Sirtis - the actress playing Counsellor Deanna Troi in 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and our fabulous guest actress in this year's Espatrek® has recorded a little greeting inviting us all to meet her in the convention in Valencia.
If such a beautiful lady asks us for it in such a kind way, we do not think anyone will be able to say no. So let's say loud and clear: See you there, Marina!
Richard Arnold will be in the Espatrek again 12/05/2010
We have good news. Richard Arnold, known in the world as the Ambassador of Star Trek and who possesses a huge catalogue of Trading Cards for sale, will be back to Spain. Mr. Arnold has confirmed his presence in the Espatrek, where he will delight us again with the collections of stories lived in first person in the shooting set, as he was Gene Roddenberry's right-hand man.
From here, we would like to thank him for wanting to visit us again, leaving his cabin in the Cruise Trek for some days just for us.
Espatrek® on the air. 08/05/2010
Espatrek has closed different agreements with the podcasts ‘Fuera de Órbita’ (‘Out of Orbit’) and ‘El Camarote 58’ (‘The 58th Cabin’). Both podcasts, with venue in Valencia, are specialised in science-fiction and fantasy respectively but not exclusively.
Since the broadcasting of one of the last podcasts of ‘Fuera de Órbita’, a contest where you can get a double free ticket for Espatrek is open. The bases are in www.clubstartrekvalencia.org. The time limit for taking part is Monday 10th May.
On the other hand, on next Tuesday May 11th members of Espatrek’s organization will collaborate in an special programme about Star Trek and the Espatrek with the guys of ‘El Camarote 58’. You can see their website in elcamarote-58.blogspot.com/.

La Espatrek® vuelve a la Universidad 19/04/2010
Espatrek has closed a collaboration agreement with the Students’ Space of the University Carlos III of Madrid. With it since today and until April 30th a little exposition about Star Trek will be held in the Maria Moliner Library of the campus of this university in Getafe. The timetable is: from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 21.00 h. and on Saturdays from 9.00 to 15.00 h.
On the other hand, on next Thursday April 22nd, at 18.00 in the library of the campus of Leganés, a new edition of ‘Fuera de Órbita’ (‘Out of Orbit’) will be recorded. This one will count with the participation of the professor J. García Rueda, Engineer Doctor of Telecommunications and writer of fantastic novel. We will talk with him about ‘Engineering and Science-fiction’. We hope you will be able to attend.
These activities are part of the celebration of the week of the book, dedicated to fantastic literature. You can see the programme here.

Espatrek®’s organization is proud to announce that the FNAC - one of the biggest commercial superstores dedicated to the selling of books, image, sound, telephony and computers - will be sponsoring the Espatrek® this year too.

Marina Sirtis confirms her attendance to Espatrek® 15/09/2009
Marina Sirtis, counsellor Deanna Troi in ‘Star Trek - The Next Generation’, has confirmed her attendance to the Espatrek® the 22nd, 23th and 24th September 2.010 .
Marina Sirtis will share with all the attendees her experiences as an actress in Star Trek TV shows and movies, answer our questions, have some photos taken and sign some autographs.
Espatrek® wants to publicly thank Marina Sirtis for accepting our invitation to take part in our next convention. It will be a great honour to share those days with her.
Valencia will be hosting Espatrek® 15/09/2009
This year many were the news that were revealed in the party held after the gala dinner. Maybe one of the most important was that we already have venue and dates for next year.
Valencia will be hosting Espatrek®2010 in October 22nd, 23th and 24th.
The Club Star Trek Valencia will co-organize along with Club Star Trek Sureste the next National Star Trek Fan Convention. This will be the first time that the Espatrek® is held in the capital of the Turia, where a wonderful 4-star hotel will host us.
One more year, the Espatrek® Organization wants to publicly invite all Star Trek fans and fan clubs interested in taking part in this convention to contact us so to make it possible.

Espatrek® 2010 is already on the move! 15/09/2009
During last weekend Espatrek®2009 was held. From the Organization we want to thank all the visitors and residents for their attendance.
It has been a great experience, we have enjoyed the activities, the company, the friends and above all we have enjoyed great moments with our common hobby: Star Trek.
As all, the ones attending the convention and also the ones who could not attend, we would like to have the biggest number of photographies possible, so from the Organization we are going to arrange it.
